We have created this website for those of you who are helping to sew face masks for our community.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak it became rapidly apparent that we were going to have shortages of medical gear and supplies. In particular face masks. So over the past couple of weeks we have sent out a call to anyone who can sew to start making face masks. If you don’t know how to sew, but are willing to donate fabric, elastic, etc…that will work, too. Our gut feeling is that we are going to need to do this for a while. And as we venture into the unknown, there may be new things that we can make or donate to assist our heroes in healthcare and the most vulnerable in our community.
Due to the number of wonderful volunteers (h/t to Theresa Krebs, Mary Barile and Tina Edholm) that have stepped up to start making face masks, I thought it would be best to set up our own web page or blog. I plan on compiling patterns and information in all formats so that they are easily accessible to our volunteers.
I work in the Emergency Medicine field, I am not a medical or certified careworker, but I have worked for and supported the wonderful people in the Emergency Department at Boone Hospital for 20 years and now work for a corporation (TEAMHealth) that staffs 450+ Emergency Department Providers in 46 states. In my lifetime, I have never seen anything like this virus. Please stay safe, practice social distancing, wash your hands and stay home as much as you can. We will get through this…it is just going to take some patience and prayer.
PS: If you want to volunteer, donate or send me your patterns or links to patterns, please email me at email@example.com
NOTE: When you have masks or donations ready, you can drop them off at Maggie’s Bar and Grill from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. or send me a message and we can arrange to have them picked up.
